In the beginning there were two Clubs, the Ringwood Women's Club was formed after a meeting was called in July 1961 by the Mayor of Ringwood Cr. Bob Horman. The Ringwood Men's Club was formed on March 30th. 1962.

For the Women's Club the first Office Bearers were:

President - Denise Densham
Secretary - Evelyn Rutledge
Treasurer - Linda Evans
The first coach was Marlene Warren.
The first Club Champion of the RWAAC was Wendy Rutledge.
Joining fees for Seniors were ten shillings ($1 for the young and not so young) and five shillings for Juniors.
 
The Club uniform consisted of a bottle green top with a gold monogram and black shorts. Geoff Warren designed the clubs monogram which is a gold tree on a green background. The five branches of the tree symbolising the five branches of athletics.
Training took place at the Ringwood East Football Oval and was shared with footballers, cricketers and dogs.
 
Competition for the women was held at Royal Park with the Junior "F" Grade team being Premiers in their first year. It should be noted that the longest track event on the program for the women was 880yds.
